How PV analysis work?

Hi. I'm trying to draw PV curves by PSSE. But I don't understand the transfer dispatch method even I've read PSSE manual. When I tried to run PV analysis, it returned "No participating dispatch buses in opposing system."

Can you explain for me how the PV analysis work and the principle of transfer dispatch method? What buses' requiements that source subsystem and sink subsystem need? Thank in advance.

Towana,

First, check the basecase to identify in the bus table how bus grouping can be made by selecting areas, zones or owners definition. Next, auxiliary files (*.sub, *.con, *.mon) will have to created to make a , *.dfx file. The *.sub file will contain the bus grouping definition. Check the PSSe manual for details. Then open the PV engine in Psse and fill up entries to create a *.dfx file and next select the source and sink regions by selecting bus grouping defined in the *.sub file for each source and sink. Demo auxliary files are in the 'Example' folder of the PSSe installation. Check the post "Can anybody help me with PV analysis in PSSE please?" and download the python files to run a script-based PV study.

Hi Cao, in power transfer analysis, the source system (zone/group of zones or an area/group of areas or a group of buses with generation) would increase their generation as you transfer power. At the same time, the sink or opposing system (zone/group of zones or an area/group of areas or a group of buses with generation) would decrease their generation output. In PSS/E, the source and sink (opposing system) must be defined before the power transfer is conducted.

As the program transfer power from the source to the sink, it also monitors bus voltages depending on how the user provided limits so when the power flow solution is not solving or diverging or when the voltage lower limit is hit by the power transfer, the power transfer solution/simulation stops.
