What are differences between contingency type A, B & C? Thanks.

I think you're going to have to be more specific. Where are you seeing this notation? I'm unfamiliar with it.

I guessing it's the results using Rate A, Rate B, and Rate C for the equipment.

I think you are referring to North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) criterion for contingencies. Take a look at this link - this might help you.
