Network reduction/equivalent

Hi all,

I'm trying to reduce network to some level i.e 275kV and above. While the original case, most of the load were parked at 11kV and 33kV (only few at 132kV and 275kV busses). After reduced the network, found that the load becomes lesser than the original. Almost 5% reduction. Is it ok to proceed? or i missed some step before EEQV activity? Please help.

The network equivalencing is somehow a trial and error process in order to achieve your desired network equivalent. If the total loads become lesser as compared to the original, that means some portion of the system were "netted" on an island that is no longer connected to the resulting equivalent. Another scenario is that the load and generation is cancelled out but their connection is still present in the reduced network. The question if that is acceptable depends on your objective.

Thank you so much for your answers. Appreciate it. Just to share, the objective for the network reduction is to model (export) the reduced network to PLEXOS (software for optimization). Plan to use this for future generation expansion.

Preserve the study area that you are interested with i.e. all information inside this area should not be affected by the equivalencing. The equivalencing should be done outside the study area.
