Hi all,

I am adding new machine and I don't know how to choose Mbase (MVA) in the .raw file (under the tab "Machine").

I was given this .raw file that I am working with and the existing Mbase (MVA) for other machines there are different, some are 120MVA, 25MVA, 10MVA etc.

So my question is how this Mbase (MVA) value is calculated/obtained?

The system base in 100MVA

Best regards, A beginner in PSSE

Mbase is the rated MVA power for the machine. It is one of the most basic data for a generator, so the information should be available for existing generators.

It is only used for short circuit calculations and dynamic simulations. You can ignore Mbase if you are just doing load flow calculations.
