Script for UPFC dynamic model in PSS/E

Hello all I am currently understudying the capability of UPFC in power system transient stability. But I just discovered that PSS/E does not have a Dynamic model for UPFC and I understand Python could be used to code this. I need HELP!!!

Hi @crescent I'd also love to know if something like this could be done in Python. Does anyone have any ideas?

Can you post more details on how you would model the UPFC? Could you model it using an existing device (a shunt or a generator?) whose parameters you vary using Python? Or is your model a set of nodal equations?

This is not in Python, but I think it is more appropriate for your purposes. Unless you can "fake out" PSSE by modeling the UPFC using an existing device and varying its parameters dynamically. Regardless, a custom DLL is probably a better way.

I thought the answer would be along these lines. I was pretty surprised to hear that Python could be a potential solution.

I think it depends on how detailed a model you want to have (ie, not very detailed). Also, you'd have to be willing to run your analysis exclusively in Python (ie, abandon the PSSE interface). It wouldn't be very pretty or very effective, that's for sure.
