How to trip one winding in a 3-winding transformer?

Hello,

I can trip one winding for a 3-winding transformer in PSS/E. I checked the API manual. THREEWNDIMPEDCHNG3 has a parameter, intergar8, for resetting the transformer status but only 0 and 1 for out-service and in-service options. Is it possible just to trip one winding for a 3-winding transformer?

Thanks!

The API manual is not complete. Parameter INTGAR(8) can be set to openan individual winding: 0 = out of service, 1 = in service at all windings, 2 = winding 2 is open, 3 = winding 3 is open, 4 = winding 1 is open.

You can 'open' a single winding of a three-winding transformer by:

  1. Insert a zero-impedance line between each winding and the network bus.
  2. solve the load flow
  3. now, open one of the zero-impedance to simulate the 'single winding opening' condition.
  4. solve again, and continue with your analysis.

Thank jconto! Need to replace the three buses on the 3-winding xfmr with three new buses, then connect them to their network bus with a ZBR. That is what I do. Any other method for sharing?
