Does anyone have dynamic data for IEEE 9 bus system for PSSE, so that print out "INITIAL CONDITIONS O.K."

The following link will takes you to my google drive public folder "PowerSystem", which contains the IEEE9, IEEE14, IEEE39 and IEEE59 systems: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7u... Click on a zip file icon, and then click on the downloading icon on top.

I added governors and pss models to the IEEE9 data set latest version with scripts and log files. Adjust the path for filenames in the scripts for your case.

Update 2023/09/20 -
The ieee9.dyr was updated (IEEE9jconto20230920.zip) to eliminate the oscillatory behavior shown by @perolofl during long term simulations of 120 sec.

/IBUS, ’IEESGO’, I, T1 ,T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, K1, K2, K3, PMAX, PMIN /

I have a problem when calculating the critical clearing time (CCT) for IEEE 9 bus. When short circuit at bus 9 and observe G3 generator angle to find CCT.

If the short circuit clear time is 100ms, then run for 20s, the system is stable. But if running for 200ms, the system is not stable?

I think there is a problem in the dynamic model for the 3 generators? Therefore, the system will not be stable if after clearing the short circuit, we continue to run with a large enough time.

The IEEE9 is a very small system, good for test concepts but not to assert if the machine dynamics are good or bad. To test CCT, use a small increment for the clearing time, like 10 to 20 ms, going from 100 to 200 ms. The CCT concept is to find the clearing time where the system becomes unstable.

Thanks for sending the data. Although the dynamic response has improved, but it still does not give me perfect response. I mean I still receive the error of "Initial condition suspect" for just one state and the value of DSTATE is huge (-0.63092).

Is the re anyway to fix it, so that I can get a flat response when the system is not perturbed?

The data set renders a "INITIAL CONDITIONS O.K." message in my run. I added the scripts and log files to the previous zip file. Adjust the paths in the script to fit your case.

Thank you jconto. I will try it to see the results.

Hi

I'm very new to both PSS/E and this website. I'm trying to download the attachment, however, when I click on the link a black screen with this message on top "The image cannot be displayed because it contains error" appears. Please help me out.

I just try it and it works OK. is a website problem or a problem with your system? Could others try to download it and post any problem?

Thanks for quick response. I have no idea why it is happening. If you can download it, it means something is wrong on my side. I even tried another link (IEEE39) you posted in another question, the same error. Is there any other way you could send me the files? Can I give you my email address?

It seems the method to retrieve the posting has changed: right-click on the link and select "save link as" to save it to your destination. You can change the name and extension during this process.

Thanks a lot. It worked. Really appreciate it. By any chance, do you have dyr and raw file of other IEEE test systems? (IEEE14, IEEE24, IEEE30, IEEE39, IEEE57, IEEE118, IEEE300). My primary study need to evaluated by these IEEE models. And since I'm new to PSSE, every single error took me one week.

Dear Jose,

The governor models in the nine bus system (IEEE9) are instable when performing long simulation.

For example, a 5% governor step test results in the following behaviour:

image description

The speed signal is here recalculated to Hz. Initially, Pmech decreases instead of increase, it takes 40 s before Pmech is higher than the initial value (0.6 pu).

The instability is most likely caused by extreme values for the K2 and K3 fractions and long time constants.

This has created problems for some users of the IEEE9 test system.

Thanks for uncovering the long term oscillatory behavior of the IEESGO model. I made some adjustments to eliminate such oscillations, see my updates above. To the PSSPY community, feel free to retune any model as needed for your studies.

Thankyou for sharing all this information at your google-drive for the PSSE-community!!!
