Hello community members,

I would like to ask you on your experience with the construction in PSSE of new network cases and the validation of the power results.

I have built a new network case with data corresponding to a medium voltage distribution network benchmark. I have introduced the topology, network data and load data (base case) provided with the network benchmark documentation. I would like to be sure that the model is well introduced in PSSE, so I have checked the voltages (magnitude and angle) of the PSSE power flow results with the voltages provided in the documentation of the network benchmark. The PSSE power flow converges. It is also worth mentioning that the authors of the documentation are not suspicious of providing wrong results.

The results I get show that my PSSE voltage magnitude results have errors between 0.0% and 1.0% compared with the results in the documentation, and the voltage angle results have an error between 0.0% and 4.3%.

I can provide you with more details: the distribution network is a 20-kV network with radial topology. Almost all the branches are underground cables. There are two identical 110/20 kV transformers with a common 110-kV bus, which is connected to the HV-MV subtransmission equivalent network (swing bus). All information about such two transformers is provided with the documentation and carefully included in the model, including actual configuration of tap changers and also the connection (Dyn1). I have also checked all the bus, plant, machine, branch and load data and it seems to me that it is well introduced in PSSE.

I would like to ask you what other things should I check/take into consideration in order to find what is wrong with the model. Maybe you have faced similar problems.

Thank you all in advance!

Regards

Gerard

You also need to compare the branch flow. The errors of the voltage magnitude (1.0%) are too big.
