How to Model BESS Power Smoothing in PSSE?
Hello, I am currently working on modeling a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in PSS®E with the main purpose of output power smoothing, for example to mitigate PV or wind power fluctuations before injecting to the grid.
Could anyone please guide me on:
- Which dynamic models in PSS®E are suitable for representing BESS with smoothing control?
- Is there any recommended approach to implement ramp-rate control or moving average smoothing in PSS®E?
- Do I need to combine existing renewable machine models (like WT3/WT4 or PV models) with a BESS model, or can BESS be modeled as a standalone device?
Any example cases, DYRE models, or documentation references would be highly appreciated.
