I have Saturation Curve of my generator, now I need to calculate S(1.0) and S(1.2) from it. The vales in the graph are not in PU. How can i calculate it, is there any other way?

To calculate saturation curve parameters S(1.0) and S(1.2) the following values are needed:

  • Ifg - no load field current for rated generator terminal voltage (Ug=100%) on the air gap line
  • If0 - no load field current for rated generator terminal voltage (Ug=100%) on the no-load saturation curve
  • If120 - no load field current for 120% of the rated generator terminal voltage on the no load saturation curve

All three values can be read in Amperes.

Saturation curve parameters are then calculated as follows:

  • S(1.0) = (If0-Ifg)/Ifg = If0/Ifg - 1
  • S(1.2) = (If120 - 1.2Ifg)/(1.2Ifg)= If120/(1.2*Ifg)-1
