2022-12-12 09:45:29 -0500 asked a question How to perform the playback method using PLBVFU1 in PSSE 35?

I have been trying to learn how to test my PSS/E models using the PLBVFU1 generator model; the "playback" method. I am far from a programmer, but I found some zip files online to run the playback test in PSSE version 33 and 34. I was able to edit this code in order to run the playback python file in PSSE Version 35. I set my frequency to playback 59.7Hz but the test did not run as expected. Does anyone have any experience doing playback voltage and frequency in version 35? The code I have been suing has well over 200 lines, is there a simpler code that can do the same job? I usually just test my models applying faults to achieve the desired voltage and frequency responses. Playback method seems like it would be a lot more efficient, and any help would be greatly appreciated!

2021-09-23 08:17:43 -0500 asked a question Bus Frequency Output

I am trying to test the frequency response of a system. After I run a simulation and view the frequency of the system from the output file I am essentially getting 0 for the frequency of the system.

I set the base value of the system at 60Hz so shouldn't my frequency be 60Hz in the output file without any faults placed on the system? I am trying to run a Over/Under frequency trip test but I can't even get a frequency reading of greater then 0.

Does anyone know how I can generate an actual frequency reading? I can't find any setting in the save file or dynamic file that will fix this issue so maybe it is my PSSE seetings?

2021-08-20 07:06:16 -0500 asked a question Voltage Control vs PF Control

Can any explain the difference to me between a model set to voltage control vs pf control (or other types of control)? Does it have to do with the values given to the flags in the .dyr file? Meaning, if I set Vflag to 1 and the rest of the flags to 0 would this make my model voltage controlled?

I come across this a lot and would ,love some clarity on how to set the control for the models.

Thank you for the response. I understand that is what they are supposed to do but I have to test the inverter going to these parameters and show the model can recover after being at those values for a short amount of time.

2021-06-28 11:37:41 -0500 asked a question Ride Through Settings Testing

Does anyone know how to test the ride through settings (LVRT,HVRT, Over/Under Frequency) of a model? I enter the settings into the dynamic file in "other models" -> "Miscellaneous" specifying the voltage ride through settings as "VTGPAT" and the frequency settings as "FRQTPAT.

I have not been able to test any of these settings directly. I am able to simulate the LVRT (low voltage ride through) results from putting a simple bus fault on a bus but I have not been able to replicate the HVRT (high voltage ride through) or frequency response.

If anyone knows how to test/validate these settings I would appreciate the help, I have been trying to figure this out for a while.
