Hi everyone,

I am wondering that what's the difference between using REGCAU1 series and WT3G(WT4G) series at the modeling of Type 3(Type 4) wind turbines?

I check some files like models.pdf and know that there are some differences in control blocks, but I am wondering the detail of the difference, why there are two series in PSS/E that can be used as Type 3(Type 4) wind turbines?

Dear everyone,

I have a question regarding the API: TYSL. As we know we need to perform CONG, CONL, ORDR, FACT, TYSL, etc.,prior to running the transient stability program. What makes me confused is what is the purpose of performing TYSL? The help documents said "Use this API to run switching study network solutions", but I still confused.

Thank you jfconroy, yes now in my experience, only v2.X, 32 bit of Python can work with PSSe API.

Dear everyone,

I know PSSe33 was built as a 32-bit application. and python2.7 of 32-bit works fine with PSSe33.04 in my work.

Does anyone know can PSSe work with python 3.6 of 32-bit? I tried but failed, the problem first happened at "import psspy", and the console indicates "bad magic number in psspy..."

Maybe there are problems in my settings, or there are restrictions in PSSe version?

And I also failed to make python of 64-bit (either 3.6 or 2.7) work with PSSe.

Hi, in GUI, you can click OPF on the menu bar, then 'parameters', then check the "Minimize active power loss", finally, click ok.

Hello everyone,

I've been doing dynamic simulations in my case in which DFIGs wind farms are integrated.

In my mind, in PSS/E, the unit of the power output from generators should be p.u. on SBASE (100MW).

What makes me confused is, during dynamic simulations, the maximum reactive power output of DFIG wind farms remains at around 0.6, no matter how much the installed capacities of the DFIGs wind farms are (e.g., 100MW, 200MW or 500WM, these values are also the power outputs of DFIG wind farms in each power flow case).

I think the maximum reactive power output of DFIG wind farms would be affected as the capacities of the DFIGs wind farms increase, and if the DFIG wind farms are under reactive power control (for instance, setting VARFLG=1 in WT3G2 model ), the DFIGs would output their maximum reactive power during the fault to provide support for voltage recovery.

I also have the same experience, early V34 of PSSE seems works much slower than V33 so I go back to the latter one. I am not sure if it's due to the updated functions slow down the simulation...

Anyway, I think V34.3.1, V33.4 and V33.6 are good choices.

I have tried many times of modifying the parameters of excitation, DFIGs and generators, but that not really worked.

Actually, if I just integrate one or two DFIGs, the initial conditions are ok. But I don't know what goes wrong when I integrate the three or more.

Thank you so much jconto, I've contacted a Siemens engineer and it turns out there are many problems in initial released PSSE34.0.0 and 34xplore version, PSSE33 or PSSE34.3 should be a good idea to solve this.

Hi everyone,

In my work, I am going to equivalent the network up to machine node, and the code in following works well in psse 33, however, in PSSE34, the IDE collapse every time I run the code, is this a bug in PSSE 34 ?

In PSSE 34, my code can work without the equivalence API, yet the spyder IDE will collapse every time I add the line "psspy.eeqv".

The network equivalence function works well in PSSE 34 interface, although the interface will also collapse sometimes.

If anyone knows how to fix this, I would appreciate that.
