Hi, Mr. Conto, Thank you for your answer. I am using spyder to run the script. Yes, your method can suppress all of the output, including my own prints, which I want to keep. Thank you as well!

2019-04-03 08:03:40 -0500 asked a question Is there any chance to shut down the output of OPF?

Hi everyone,

Thank you for coming to see my question.

In my study, I am carrying out thousands of Monte Carlo transient simulations using API, before which I need to calculate the optimal power flow (OPF) as the initial states for the simulations.

My question is there any chance to shut down the output of OPF? The IDE console prints too much output from OPF calculation, which slows down the simulation speed and floods my own output as well.

I tried psspy.progress_output(ISLCT = 6) but it does not work for OPF output.

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers,

Gary

Hi SqFKYo, thank you for your patiently reply, yes I want to do the former. In addition, to study the dynamic behaviour of wind power plants in different output scenarios in pss/e, , is this reasonable to set a 100MW-rated wind power plants in different output scenarios before apply a fault?

Hi SqFKYo, thank you for that. But I think there might be a difference between the two questions; I didn't find the way to change the govern reference of wind power plant.

Hi gajendra, you can find it by searching the question "Renewable Plant Modeling - Solar PV - Wind", which is provided by jconto, from which you can learn how to model the renewable plants; and you can replace more conventional generators by wind power to increase the penetration.

2019-01-22 12:32:30 -0500 asked a question How to mimic the stochastic of wind power in dynamic simulation

Hi,

Thanks for coming to see my question. I updated my question. sorry for the ambiguity.

I am doing dynamic simulations with wind power penetration. I tried to mimic the stochastic behaviour of wind power plants, so I need to set different output scenarios in tons of cases for a wind farm with fixed capacity (i.e., a 100 MW wind power plant may not always produce the rated power since the wind velocity is stochastic, for example, when the wind is weak, the 100MW-rated wind farm might only generate 20 MW, and increases with the wind velocity.....)

I not sure how to simulate this behavior of wind power in pss/e, because it seems that the wind power model in pss/e is designed for simulating the wind farm working at around 100% of its rated power?

Thank you for your help.

Gary

-----------below is the original question-------------------

Hi,

Thanks for coming to see my question.

I am doing dynamic simulations in a case with high wind power penetration. I tried to mimic the stochastic behaviour of wind power plants, i.e., for example, a wind power plant whose capacity is 100 MW may not always produce the rated power since the wind velocity is changing from time to time. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do it in pss/e.

Can you please let me know is there any method to do it in pss/e?

Any help would be appreciated.

cheers, Gary

2019-01-21 09:56:36 -0500 asked a question How to simulate secondary frequency control in pss/e

Hi,

Thank you for looking my question.

I used some cases which equipped with governs and have carried out some simulations. I observed that the after disconnecting the load/generator, the frequency response in my case is the result of the inertial response and preliminary control, since the frequency never goes back to the initial value and stay at somewhere else.

How can I simulate the secondary frequency control in pss/e, to increase the output of synchronous generators reasonably then make the frequency go back to the initial value?

sorry to ask the basic question. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Gary

Hi everyone,

I am wondering that what's the difference between using REGCAU1 series and WT3G(WT4G) series at the modeling of Type 3(Type 4) wind turbines?

I check some files like models.pdf and know that there are some differences in control blocks, but I am wondering the detail of the difference, why there are two series in PSS/E that can be used as Type 3(Type 4) wind turbines?

any comments would be appreciated!

Dear everyone,

I have a question regarding the API: TYSL. As we know we need to perform CONG, CONL, ORDR, FACT, TYSL, etc.,prior to running the transient stability program. What makes me confused is what is the purpose of performing TYSL? The help documents said "Use this API to run switching study network solutions", but I still confused.

Thank you all in advance!

Dear everyone,

I know PSSe33 was built as a 32-bit application. and python2.7 of 32-bit works fine with PSSe33.04 in my work.

Does anyone know can PSSe work with python 3.6 of 32-bit? I tried but failed, the problem first happened at "import psspy", and the console indicates "bad magic number in psspy..."

Maybe there are problems in my settings, or there are restrictions in PSSe version?

And I also failed to make python of 64-bit (either 3.6 or 2.7) work with PSSe.

Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know how to close the OPF output?

Hi, in GUI, you can click OPF on the menu bar, then 'parameters', then check the "Minimize active power loss", finally, click ok.
