You can import your system (.raw) file into powerworld to change the base MVA, and export it back in .raw file for PSSE

2017-03-10 12:34:15 -0500 asked a question Dynamic Models for Generator

Hi,

I am trying to create dynamic models (generator, exciter, stabilizer, and governor) for four generators connected to a microgrid. The information for two generators with large capacity are not available so I have to make some assumption for Pgen and Qgen.

How would you create dynamic models for an unknown generator? The goal of my study is to observe the dynamic response of the loads connected to those generators so using GENCLS is not sufficient.

Thank you so much!

Hi,

I would like to determine the parameters for my induction machine (CIM6BL) using the induction motor (IMD) program in PSS/E. But, I have no luck finding the instruction for how to use IMD. Can someone please help giving me the instruction for how to open/use it?

Thanks!

2017-01-26 13:37:40 -0500 asked a question Model Initialization Error in PSSE v33

Hi, I added a user-define model (CMLDBLU1) to savnw.dyr, and everything works fine with PSSE version 34. But, I get error with version 33 (as shown below) and keep getting NaN for all of my outputs. I looked at the user manual for both versions, but I couldn't find any difference. Would someone please help me run my .dyr file on version 33 and point out my mistake? Also, what does the last line of the machine initial condition (1 0.0 0.000E+00 0.0000E+00) mean? Thanks!

I am still be new to python and PSSE (this is my second weeks of learning them). Can I do sensitivity run on the gui? If not, is there any tutorial or sample code that I can learn from? Thanks!

I am not sure if I am allowed to share dyr data online. Anyway, I tried my dyr file on version 33 today and I didn't get "Dynamic Terminated" error so there may be some limitation of version 34. But, I run into another issue which I get NaN for all of my outputs. Thank you for your help, jconto!

I am using version 34. The setup runs fines, and I have no issue adding a composite load model to one bus. But, I get the "Dynamic Terminated" error when I add the load model to three buses. Is it because of the limit numbers of CONs for version 34? Thanks!

2017-01-24 00:15:41 -0500 asked a question Is it possible to disable a machine in a dynamic composite load model while running dynamic simulation?

Hi,

Is there a way to disable and enable a motor in the composite load model (CMLDBU1) during dynamic simulation? I would like to observe the changes in the system due to machine stalling and recovery. CMLDBU1 is a user-written model that represent motors, power electronics, and static load.

Any comment/suggestion, I'll be really appreciated it :)

Thanks!

I am new to PSSE so I am starting with savnw.sav and modify savnw.dyr to get familiar with it before moving to a 250-bus network. I am trying to add composite load models (CMLDBLU1) to three load buses. But, I get an error saying "Return to Dynamics terminated--system model requires too many." The dynamic simulation runs fine after getting this error. Is it something I need to be aware of? Can anyone help me to remove this error?

Below is the output I get after loading .dyr file:
