Hi Everyone,

I have performed a dynamic simulation using a simple SMIB system to investigate the change of voltage after switching a shunt reactor into the system.

However, the bus voltage cannot recover to the original voltage level (ie. 1p.u.) as shown below:

Is there any possible solution to make the bus voltage to recovery to a desired voltage level ?

if I desire to use the four models: GENROU, EXST1, IEESGO and IEEEST for the generators, is there any method to increase the generator voltage output as well as the bus volatage ?

Thank you so much!

The shown behaviour is normal for an exciter with droop, as EXST1. Increasing the gain K will decrease the "voltage error", but to high gain may lead to instability. if so, you can decrease the transient gain by decreasing Tc or increasing Tb.

You can also try exciter EXPIC1 which has an integral function which leads to infinite gain at steady state.
