I am new to PSSE so I am starting with savnw.sav and modify savnw.dyr to get familiar with it before moving to a 250-bus network. I am trying to add composite load models (CMLDBLU1) to three load buses. But, I get an error saying "Return to Dynamics terminated--system model requires too many." The dynamic simulation runs fine after getting this error. Is it something I need to be aware of? Can anyone help me to remove this error?

Below is the output I get after loading .dyr file:

Generator models use:

CONS 1- 82 STATES 1- 35

Excitation System models use:

CONS 83- 144 STATES 36- 53 VARS 1- 3

Turbine Governor models use:

CONS 145- 177 STATES 54- 63 VARS 4- 8

Shared Load Characteristic models use:

CONS 178- 573

Return to Dynamics terminated--system model requires too many Unshared Load models use:

STATES 64- 144 VARS 9- 300 ICONS 1- 96

what version of PSSe are you using? Does the setup run OK without load modeling? can you post the dyr file?

I am using version 34. The setup runs fines, and I have no issue adding a composite load model to one bus. But, I get the "Dynamic Terminated" error when I add the load model to three buses. Is it because of the limit numbers of CONs for version 34? Thanks!

it would not be a limit on the # of CONs, since your test system is small. Post your dyr data if allow.

I am not sure if I am allowed to share dyr data online. Anyway, I tried my dyr file on version 33 today and I didn't get "Dynamic Terminated" error so there may be some limitation of version 34. But, I run into another issue which I get NaN for all of my outputs. Thank you for your help, jconto!

NaN error are due to bad initialization of the (untuned) load model. Add the model one load model at a time, noting monitoring values reaction to it (channels). Perform a no-disturbance test at every try, you should get flat lines on all channels. Search for NERC LMTF.

I have a similar problem... You wrote it is related to the untuned load model, however, how do I tune the load model then? searching for NERC LMTF did unfortunately not help with finding anything on this...
