What does ierr8 (three-winding transformer table is full) for the three winding transformer mean?

I am trying to add a series of three winding transformers to a case and I received this error and the PSSEAPI documentation is not exactly verbose on this error:

"IERR = 8 three-winding transformer table is full"

What is the problem behind this error message and how do I avoid it?

Greetings from Colombo. There is a way to have transformer impedance specified by lookup table. Is it related to that?

Also, what is the exact command that you are using to add the transformer? How many have you added before the error appears? How many three winding and two winding tranformers are there each in total?

This error means that no more three winding transformers can be added to the case. I encountered this error while accidentally trying to add several thousand 3 winding transformers to a case instead of only a few. Lets hope I don't make the same mistake again.

A table of the maximum number of each type of transmission component allowed in a case can be found in the Program Operations Manual (POM), normally under the name of "Standard Maximum PSSE Program Capacities".

The capacities for each component are a function of the maximum number of buses allowed for that case.

For my case (set to a maximum of 4000 buses), I was only allowed 400 three winding transformers, hence the error.

A few thousand! The error message should really say what the limit is if there is an upper limit.
