Network Not Converged After Fault

Hi all,

I had a question in regards to the network not converged message during dynamic simulations. If the network does not converge when a fault is applied, but after removal the message goes away does this mean the data is still correct? What I mean to ask is: Does the network not converged message mean everything after is corrupted and not trusted data?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if answering your own question is alright, but I thought I'd leave what I've found in hopes to help others with a similar question. If the network doesn't converge, the results of the power flow will be what the simulator found after a given amount of iterations. If the network not converging has to do with reaching a maximum amount of iterations, the mismatch of the network will most likely produce undesirable results moving forward due to error propagation. That is what I have found, if anyone else has input it would be greatly appreciated!

IMHO, when you applied a fault, it's normally to see "network not converged" message, cause you changed a impedance to zero (or close to zero). So I think it's ok to see one or a few NoC message in the process.

Love to hear another idea.
