NEVA - PSS/E - Eigenvalue analysis

Hello:

I would like to ask if anyone has experience with NEVA, which is separate PSS/E add-on module to perform small-signal analysis.

I think that I have all correctly installed, but I'm not able to carry out an eigenvalue analysis of an existing PSS/E case. The "Dynamics" tab of PSS/E has the option of "Launch NEVA Eigenvalue analysis", but it appears in grey and I can't use it.

I would like to know the cause of the problem and use NEVA.

Thank you very much.

Javier

Correct me if I am wrong, but you need to pay more to have appropriate license to be able to use NEVA.

Yes. NEVA licence is sold separately.

Hi

I think you are loading only ".sav" file and trying to run NEVA.

Load both .sav and .dyr files. Then the option is enabled and you can perform eigenvalue analysis.

There could be two things then. 1.Check if your file has errors. This will be reflected in progress window. (one of my 2 terminal dc model was wrong, there neva could not launch.) 2.Check if installation is correct. Try opening neva directly using icon in programs.

Also try savnw.sav and .dyr files from example folder in psse installation for NEVA analysis

Hello, Thank you for your anwers. I have the NEVA license and I am loading ".sav" files and ".dyr" files. So I don't know what could happen.

I haven't used NEVA, but with my experience with LYSANS, I think you should do ASTR activity before run NEVA.

Thank you for the post. I have NEVA license but I don't have license for LYSANS module. I can not run ASTR activity because I understand that belongs to LYSANS module (please correct me if I am wrong). Because of this, I'm not sure if one should run ASTR before running NEVA.

I am using LSYSAN (PSSE 29) to calculate eigenvalues, eigenvector and check small signal stability. Since NEVA and LSYSAN do the same job, I thought that maybe NEVA is an upgrade version of LSYSAN.

Have you done those activities "CONG", "CONL", "ORDR", "FACT", TYSL before run ASTR? After all, ASTR is an dynamic activity. In PSSE 33, I am able to run ASTR without NEVA and LSYSAN license.

I thought that NEVA and LSYSAN were different tools (although they do the same job). But I have never use them, so maybe you're right. About the last thing that you say: can you run ASTR activity without LSYSAN license in PSS/E 33? Because as you suggested, the problem may be there. Thank you very m

I will check why activity ASTR does not work.

Hello!

I'm trying to make a small signal stability analysis in PSS E. I have already open the .sav and .dyr file, . I executed the power flow but when i execute the "launch eigenvalue analysis appears this error:

UnboundLocalError: local variable 'strValue' referenced before assignment

There may have been an issue running Python file:C:\Program Files (x86)\PTI\PSSEXplore34\PSSBIN\pssneva.py

I need your help.

Do you have python 2.7 installed? If not, try installing and the "There may have been an issue running Python file..." issue may be fixed.
