Regarding photovoltaic system model in PSS/E 33.4

  • retag add tags

Hello every one, I am new PSS/E user. I am trying to connect the Photovoltaic (PV) system model for dynamic simulation in a distribution system bus but not able to fully understand the dynamic input data of PSS/E 33.4 version (PAGV2.pdf). In other words what each data represents ? Just wondering if anyone has tried to connect this generic PV model in the feeder. best regards

I used PSSe v.32. These models are part of the standard PSSe library. It should work with PSSe v.33 with minor changes, if any.

Thank you jconto! Would you please send us also the lib file? The simulation can not be performed because psse cannot find the pv functions; i.e. pvgu, pveu etc.

Thank you!

Check Chap 22 of Program Application 2.

Hi, do you know how to set the PV dynamic dyr file. There are 20 PVs connected in my system. When I try to do the dynamic analysis, there are much Oscillation in my system. I wonder why?

Hi Sam, I have the same issue as you. When I replace several conventional machines with Solar Plants (with the same PGEN, QGEN, etc.) in my case. When I run the dynamic simulation with no disturbance, there are a lot of oscillation in the system. I can't figure it out. Did you solve the problem?

same here, did anyone come across solution for this?

For a demo on the use of the solar PV generic model PVGU1, download the file 'solarPV_PVGU1.zip from my google drive site.

Load PSSe and then run the script 'solarPV.py'. The Irradiance model is set to off. Close PSSe and open pssplt and load the out file 'solarPV.out' and check channels or load the idv file "scanplotsolarPV.idv" to create a postscript *.ps file with plots.

Hi Jconto, I used your .py file in your solarPV folder to replace two conventional machines in the "savnw.sav" file and I added two solar plants in .dyr file. But, in the steady state, the angle, V as well as Pflow responses are not stable in dynamic simulation. It's been two weeks..Can you help me?

I assume your instability is under a test of no-disturbance, with a balanced power flow (in P and Q). Has you tried adding one solar plant at a time? Check the dyr data for suspicious values.

Yes, it's a test of no-disturbance with a balanced power flow. I added one solar plant first then did the dynamic simulation. Then I used the .py to create the .sav with two solar plants and did the dynamic. For the dyr data, I didn't change any parameter in the solarPV.dyr. Just copy and paste.

I will take a look at your data set. Send me the case with the solar plants modeled and the dyr file to jconto@ieee.org.
