Induction machine data in power flow file

Hi there,

I’m a bit unclear about the purpose of including a section for induction machine data in a power flow file (RAW file). From my understanding, to perform a dynamic simulation for an induction motor, the motor should be represented as a ZIP load in the power flow file, and a dynamic model such as CIM5BL should be used for the dynamic simulation.

However, if the motor is listed under the induction machine data section in the power flow file (psspy.inductionmachinedata), I don’t see how it can be associated with a dynamic induction motor model in the .dyr file.

Could someone please explain the purpose of the induction machine data section in the power flow file (RAW file) and in what situations it is appropriate to use it for modeling induction machines? Your guidance would be greatly appreciated!

I think that induction machine in load flow data is intended for load flow solution only (incl. contingency analysis).

There is no library model available for dynamics and no channels available for P, Q etc.

For dynamic simulations, use loads to model induction machines in load flow.
