A three phase fault brings the generator voltage to zero. The generator active electric power is proportional to U*I. So even if the generator current increases during the short circuit the active power becomes zero since voltage is zero (if we ignore the small losses in the generator itself). The turbine power remains constant so the turbine and rotor will accelerate during the three phase short circuit. This is the basics for transient stability. I recommend you to read about "equal area criterion".
