Siemens deliberately introduced a computer core limit in PSS/e version 34 around 2020. That limitation appears to be artificial but they introduced a software check in version 35.

They offered a free "high performance" license that increased the limit to 128 processors last year but since then have rescinded all references. In turn, they've also dramatically increased cost of the software and maintenance and support.

I'm really frustrated with Siemens because I asked about the "high performance" licenses and they said it's no longer offered even though their support site said it was free for 35.5.x. They removed all references on their support site shortly after I asked.
